I'll have an exhibition this spring at Tapie Style This will be the third time having exhibition here.
I'll be showing and selling lots of new work!

I'll be at the gallery waiting you guys on Saturday and Sunday! (April 30th, May 1st, May 7th, May 8th.)

While I'm there I'll be making lariats and pearl bracelets with alphabet charms you like.

My husband and I started hanging out at book cafes recently.

We went beyer at Tamatsukuri Osaka the other day.

Simple and stylish exterior. I felt as is I was in NY.　

First floor is a book store selling art books and zines.（Photograph taken by loft like 2nd floor）

2nd floor was cafe, gallery and library space.
It was so cozy because we had to take off our shoes and I loved the retro furnitures they had.

Coffee and cake were yummy♪
I realized I didn't take photos just before finish eating:P

Kawaii Zakka Found in Bast Zakka Store at Kawanishi Hankyu Department Store has successfully ended today!

Thinking about earthquake that happened last week and sad incident that occurred to me personally, I was just there thinking I do what I can do most.

I was so thankful because my work have been taken home by many customers although I was at the store just one day.

I was also thankful that being able to get good energy from many other artists there, and valuable opinions from customers.

I will be making new items for my next Exhibition held in the end of next month at TAPIE STYLE.

I will be looking forward to seeing everyone next time!

I met my friend of mine from NY, the other day after two years!

She came back to Japan for her dream job which she got recently in Tokyo.
She came to Osaka for a business trip, so we had a reunion at Kansai Airport.

She seemed what she does and that makes me so happy.
I brought a necklace which made as a gift for her.

I'm not always comfortable to give my handmade jewelries to people as a gift because they might not always like it and it might look advertising-like. Well, maybe I'm too modest.

Anyway, She loved the necklace and she said "I'll be wearing it every day." I was soooooooo happy to hear that.

St. Valentine's Day

It has been hectic this week, so I couldn't post at all and I realized today is Saturday already!
I took pictures of a cake which I made for St.Valentine's day.
So I will write about it.

In Japan, for some reason, women give chocolates to someone who they want to show their love.
It has been custom to give chocolates to not only for they really love, but for someone like their boss, or co-workers to say thank you.
And a month later, man who received chocolates will have to give some present back to people who got chocolates from.

Anyway, homemade is preferable for my husband. So I got a little help from MUJI homemade kit as I did last year.

I made brownies this year!

well, the one I baked is this.

The surface looks rough a bit.

I wrapped them pretty like this.

I will give it to my husband at home and eat together, so I put them on a dish with many hearts, which I cut from a ribbon one by one, and a massage card.

A little bit for my mom, as well.

It was quite fun to make, and wrap.
It tasted good too!

Snow fell in Osaka after three years today.
I couldn't help but going outside to walk on the snow after a long time.
So Me and my husband went to walk and ate lunch at a bistro nearby my apartment.

The bistro's cozy interior reminded me of French bistro having Savignac and other french poster hung on wall.

The hamburg steak lunch plate (1300 yen) was so delicious!
It came with a soup as well.

I would recommend the restaurant if you come to this neighborhood.

Cold weather came back, after a week of warm weather. :(
I know it is February, so it'll take a while for spring coming.

My atelier's wall papers were rolled up after thirty years, and finaly I had them changed with brand new white wall papers!
It is so nice to have clean white walls for work space!
I'll work harder! :D

Kitchen Timer

I bought this DULTON's retro pretty kitchen timer from from the hip interior shop TRANS-LANKHE in Shinsaibashi.

I use timer a lot while I cook, but I didn't a timer and I used iPhone app for keep time.
But I just thought, "why not having a kitchen timer since I use the application so much that I sometimes make my iPhone screen dirty with my wet hands".

That in my mind, I just found this pretty timer!
Some thoughts like "why should I spend 1000 yen for just a kitchen timer, when you can get the same function with 100 yen in 100 yen shop." or "Why don't you just keep using the iPhone timer, just as you are. you'll be fine as you were before." So, I left the store that time.

But I kept thinking of the timer afterwards.
So when I had a chance to go to Shinsaibashi, I went back to the store and grab the timer.

So adorable design and the sounds!
It makes me love cooking more!

And what a cute shopping bag, the TRANS-LANKHE used to put the timer!
I love it.

I've had really harsh time from Sunday because of norovirus infection. :(
I had the same experience three yeas ago, and I hated it.

Same for this time.
I just felt like apologizing to anything I've done in the past to get over vomiting and cold fit.

Thank goodness, now I can eat normal food after three day of rice gruel diet. :P

Anyway, I feel much better now.
So, I listed new Necklace on Etsy. :)

It's so cold today.. I feel it has been so cold this winter.
Anyway, I heard NY is heavy snow from my facebook buddies.

I remember people wearing ski for crossing the street, back then I was in NY. I just felt "this is so NY."

It doesn't snow at all, Osaka Japan where I am. I feel it is good and bad..

I'll introduce my new bracelet that is perfect for chilly day like today.
Why is it perfect?
Because everyone feel like staying home having tea in a cold day, right?

I boughtPop Up Book Rag by Bob Foundation！

We couldn't find a better rag than this for our new apartment, so we decided to get it even though it was a bit pricy.

It says "once upon a time" and　"happily ever after." on both sides of the book shaped rag.
It's perfect for bookworms like us!

The rag is comfortable and makes me smile :)

Me and Masa got married on August 8th!
We went to honeymoon to Paris.
Since then, I'm more in love with France..
That's why I used French title meaning "Just Married", with a nice google help.

Jewelry Exhibition "KIRA GIRA"

These silver rings that I introduced in the last post are sold as "KIRA GIRA" exhibition in Corazon+Corazon　-One of a kind jewelry gallery shop run by Hiko Mizuno Jewelry College Osaka) from 7/5 to 8/28!

KIRA GIRA means sort of "Bling Bling" in Japanese.

15 more artists contributed to the exhibition. Theare are lots of unique one of a kind handmade jewelries. The shop original tumblers are given on first come, first served basis!

The shop is located in noble and stylish area Kitahorie.
Please stop by if you have a chance!

Casted Patterend Silver Ring

I made silver rings in my jewelry making class.

It was an assignment to two casted rings by differentiating times of repetition of patterns.

In big one, I polished one of a chunks to make it stand out as if it is a set stone within sandblasted surface.

Small one, I like the sausage like shape.

It takes lots of time and process for making silver rings.
I'm having more and more control of what I do compare to the first time I started taking the classes.

HAPPY CAKE JEWELS' first exhibition "Forever Girls' Jewelries" at Shinsaibashi Tapie Style has successfully ended.

During the exhibition, I was so happy to meet people who are interested in my work and hear opinion, and of course so happy to see my works been happily brought home!

I was also happy about being able to spend more time to talk to each customer there, than having my booth in handmade craft shows.

I might have the another exhibition at the same place by the end of this year, please check back sometimes!

I really appreciate everyone who visited the exhibition, friends and family who support me all the time! Thank you and I love you all!

Golden Week (Japanese national holiday week up to 10 days this year)has started!
I'm so glad that it supposed to be nice weather during the week☆

I'll be making jewelries for the exhibition at Tapie Style from May 7th during the holiday.

During the exhibition, I'll be in the gallery on 5/8(Sat), 5/9(Sun), 5/9(Sat), 5/16(Sun)and making the original alphabet and number lariat for you.

This time, you can choose from full alphabets, gold and antique colored chains with six colors fresh water pearls! (Numbers limited)

Cherry Blossom Viewing Tunnel

I went to the Mint Cherry Blossom Viewing Tunnel in Osaka. According to their website, There are 127 kinds and 354 trees of cherry blossoms in 560 meters sidewalk. Some of the trees are very rare so that you can see them only there.

There were too many people taking photos since I went on Sunday, but the full blooming pale pink flower with the sunlight was breathtakingly beautiful.

It reminded me of "Sakura Masuri" at D.C.

It was pretty interesting to see the Mint building behind the trees imagining how our money has been made inside as well:D

The last photo is an interesting playing equipment that you go inside a big vinyl ball and blow it with air and roll it on water. They look so funny inside the ball :D

Happy Shoppings for Spring☆

This season's CHANEL collection(left image) is so pretty and chic!
And, I did a happy shopping getting as pretty stuff as CHANEL for this spring :) (right image)

I got 2 skirts from select clothing store "sea moss.".
One on top is from West coast brand "Scrap Book."
Blue flair lace skirt on bottom is from "THEME."

Yellow purse is from Japanese wallet brand "isola" which I got from KiKi.

Brown clog is from "Dansko" which I got from Briller.

I LOVE SPRING!!

What happened to my Fire King mag!

I love american retro stuff such as Fire King.
I had one for myself and I loved having coffee with it every morning.

But today, tragedy happened.
I was dripping a coffee, and coffee was leaking from the bottom.
I have no idea why, but the cup was splint in two like the picture.

The cup got too old, maybe?
I'll make a glue surgery and have him live his third life as an interior object. :)

Shitennoji Flea Market

I went to shop Shitennoji Flea Market to find vintage treasures. I love going there because I can find one of a kind vintage stuff for very good price. The flea market is held 21st and 22nd on every month. I went Sunday 21st, there were so many people from young to old for looking something interesting.
There was a interesting guy hanging out with his buddy iguana. Also so many turtles were sunbathing. :)
I got those vintage skeleton keys with numbers and words says "LUCKY" in Japanese character.
I'm going to make necklaces out of this.

I went to see the exhibition called “The Legacy of Carthage” in Kyoto.
It was quite interesting to see the jewelries, masques and figures from 200 something B.C.
I'm so impressed about techniques that they had back then.

My Valentine's day was pretty sweet.

Unlike Valentine's Day in U.S., Valentine's Day here in Japan is a day for women to show their love to their someone special by giving them chocolates.
(it must be a deliberate strategy by chocolate company :P)

So, I made chocolate, gift wrapped and gave it to my fiance. He was happily surprised that I gave handmade chocolates.
Since I wanted everything handmade from wrapping to greeting card,
I select pretty and sexy Greeting Card (Charity project item for HAITI)from glamourouslove and wrapping paper from yonagado.

I made these rings from silver smith class that I'm taking. I engraved "+LOVE" on circle rings and "ARIGATO"on square ring (photo is taken upside down.. actually) .

I'm going to use them as cellphone straps other than rings and share with my bf.

The Drunkard's Walk

I read the book "Drunkard's Walk -How Randomness Rules Our Lives" by Leonard Mlodinow. It was quite interesting to see how randomness rules from gambling to any success story around the world.
It was so inspiring to see there is not much relationship between one's talent and his income.
The book tells you that it doesn't mean you can just wait until the random luck will fall into you, but you should never give up, because nobody knows who is going to be a next successor.
